For those of you who haven't watched it, it's the most amazing musical experience of the decade.
Here's the trailer:
"[...] A love story set against the backdrop of the 1960s amid the turbulent years of anti-war protest, mind exploration and rock 'n roll, the film moves from the dockyards of Liverpool to the creative psychedelia of Greenwich Village, from the riot-torn streets of Detroit to the killing fields of Vietnam. The star-crossed lovers, Jude (Jim Sturgess) and Lucy (Evan Rachel Wood), along with a small group of friends and musicians, are swept up into the emerging anti-war and counterculture movements, with "Dr. Robert" (Bono) and "Mr. Kite" (Eddie Izzard) as their guides. Tumultuous forces outside their control ultimately tear the young lovers apart, forcing Jude and Lucy – against all odds – to find their own way back to each other." [via]
I've always loved The Beatles, but up until now I hadn't been hit by the mania. I can tell you, this changed my way to see them!
This movie's more than a love story, it's a story of war and revolution and fear and so many more things. And the way the songs are performed is just brilliant.
Hey Jude is one of my all time favourite Beatles' song, but Joe Anderson's cover is just... o.O
Enjoy :)
The cast is perfect, the locations and costumes too. Everything about it is great. Especially the music, which is only the most important thing in the movie.
I'm a really romantic person, so you can just imagine how much I wanted this to have a happy ending.
And considering I'm [almost] positive I wanna be a Director of Photography, the littlest smile on my face while watching all the images and settings and special effects, was almost just as big as my face. It is amazingly done.
If you haven't watched this, I strongly suggest you do. Soon. Like, now. Also, get the soundtrack. Get it yesterday.
(Stuff You Need To... is a new feature in TCM, where something book related or not gets to be spotlighted here.)
